The idea of bringing in AMI to Malaysia was not new. It was based on the founder of Kuliyah Montessori’s personal journey that she had to travel all the way from Malaysia to New Zealand way back in 2018 to take the AMI Assistant Certificate course. Since then, she had the motivation to establish an AMI Training Centre for the benefit of the community and Montessori practitioners in Malaysia.

Kuliyah Montessori is a Montessori training centre in Shah Alam, Malaysia. We offer AMI approved courses to the Malaysian community and everyone around the world via physical, online and even blended format.

The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was established in 1929 by Maria Montessori to uphold the integrity of her life’s work and ensure its continuation beyond her lifetime. As the globally recognised authority on Montessori education, AMI has played a key role in expanding Montessori programmes, teacher training, and the education of children and young adults in diverse settings worldwide. Its mission is to support the natural development of individuals from birth to adulthood, empowering children to become agents of change in society and contribute to a more peaceful and harmonious world.

We are proud to offer AMI courses for 3-6, 0-3 and 6-12 for the first time in Malaysia since 2023, 2024 and 2025 respectively.

Kuliyah Montessori was founded by husband and wife team, Nik Farah and Zuhry, who share a deep commitment to Montessori education in Malaysia.

Nik Farah is a fully trained Montessori Guide with AMI certificates in all age levels from birth to 18. She received her AMI 3–6 Diploma in Melbourne, Australia, and holds a Bachelor of Science as well as a Certificate in Jurisprudence. She founded Teratak Montessori, a Montessori centre in Shah Alam.

Zuhry is a Cost Engineer by training with two Master’s degrees in asset management and finance. He brings with him years of experience in consultancy and business management. Motivated by his family’s Montessori journey, he obtained a certification in Montessori Sports from AMI.

Both were among the founding members of the Malaysian Society for Montessori Education (MSME) which was established in 2023.

Together, Nik Farah and Zuhry envision Kuliyah Montessori as a hub for nurturing educators and advancing the Montessori trainings in Malaysia.
